Red is the color of winter 2023

Last year the battle against the cold was a battle of fuchsia and purple, emerald green and blue. This year the coolest shades of the winter season focus on less electric and generally more reassuring nuances. But not entirely. An example of this is red, a trendy color for the coming months, to be expressed through day and evening outfits. Not just nuances for gala evenings and Christmas holidays: red regains its independence and lights up dresses, blazers, coats, but also monochromatic suits like those by Ferragamo.

Sticking to bright shades, at least one yellow piece, preferably lemon or mustard, cannot be missing from the wardrobe. Capable of immediately making any look cool, it is the winning choice for a casual look paired with a denim piece, while it immediately becomes glam when combined with a great seasonal classic: grey. Super chic worn as a monochrome (see Fendi), the color of the winter sky takes on new personality when it meets yellow, as demonstrated by the check patterned garments proposed by Burberry.

In medio stat virtus: if red is too bold and yellow is too bright, orange comes to the rescue. Warm and enveloping, it manages to give a touch of liveliness without going overboard, and is perfect in combination with another must of this season. In fact, this year also marks the great return of brown - Max Mara has made it the new black - in particular in its chocolate and brandy variations which are at their best on leather garments. Don't underestimate the contrasting combination with neutral tones, such as off-white and cream.

To stay in the comfort zone there is also room for the great classics such as beige, reassuring, perfect for dressing a soft and warm oversized coat, as Tod's has done. Navy blue also recurs, seen both in the Fendi and Ferragamo fashion shows but also in the Gucci and Armani creations. The camel color trend resists, especially in accessories. It's impossible not to mention black, the evergreen par excellence: Dolce&Gabbana has dedicated an entire collection to it, super sensual, punctuated by dresses in lace, tulle and chiffon.
