197 FURNITURE Valle Esina produces regenerated leather fibre, a material that is particularly tough and resistant to stitching, yet at the same time ductile, thanks to its thickness of between 1.2 and 1.6 mm. Used in particular for the manufacturing of chairs, it is also used for tables, cabinet panels, and furnishing accessories through to giftware (umbrella stands and magazine racks, for example). It can be finished on one or both sides, in various colour shades and various types of print, from faux bovine or kid grain or other prints. The material can be supplied reinforced with various types of webbing to increase the strength of the substrate. Valle Esina is a GRS certified company and can therefore also supply specific certified materials. At Conceria Volpiana, the creation of leathers for upholstering armchairs, chairs, and sofas is the order of the day. The company boasts 40 years of artisan experience that, combined with the best state-of-the-art technology, enables it to develop a wide range of medium-high-end products. The tannery produces different types of articles in various thicknesses: aniline, nubuck, pigmented full grain, buffed grain, half grain. Priority is given to the careful selection of raw materials that, with specialised technicians, are processed within the production department with accurate controls at every stage. A strong point is the ability to customise articles according to client requirements, both in the research and choice of colour and in the finishes. The use of leather in the furnishing sector is not limited to classic soft upholstery, usually used for sofas or armchairs. Conceria Montana, for example, produces very thick leathers: articles on pure aniline hides with a very natural look, used for wall panels, bed headboards, and even for flooring, thanks to their thickness. For the Japanese and US markets, the company also supplies hides for office chairs and special rigid chairs with a metal frame where a single piece of leather is mounted. For this type of production, the most popular colours, apart from black, are the more natural shades, especially the various shades of brown, from dark brown to cognac. Moroso Cassina
