Cannes Film Festival, parade of looks on the Croisette
In the French Riviera it is again the most awaited time of the year: until May 27th the Cannes Film Festival is renewed. The 76th event dedicated to cinema punctually returns to make headlines not only for the films presented in competition, but also for the looks of the guests who parade on the red carpet of the Palais des Festivals. Engaging in a real battle of style, between fabulous dresses and accessories. Here are some of them, waiting to see what the next evenings will hold.
During the opening ceremony, which featured an emotional Johnny Depp present for the premiere of his new film "Jeanne du Barry," it was Elle Fanning who won everyone over. The American actress wore a custom Alexander Mc Queen gown consisting of a sculptural orchid-shaped bodice adorned with crystals and a fluffy pale pink tulle skirt. Shimmering Naomi Campbell in her slinky Celine outfit. A silver sequin-studded long dress with a deep V-neckline.
Impeccable Uma Thurman in Christian Dior: a powder-colored dress paired with a red overcoat with a train. With her, son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke in a blue tuxedo. Accompanying Palme d'Honneur recipient Michael Douglas on the Croisette were wife Catherine Zeta Jones and 20-year-old daughter Carys Zeta Douglas. Both wore Elie Saab creations and Chopard jewelry: for Catherine burgundy tones and plunging necklines; for Carys a white model with applied flowers and semi-transparencies.
On the second evening, Viola Davis's total white look by Maison Valentino was striking: a slinky one-shoulder model complemented by a ton sur ton feather overcoat that did not go unnoticed. Total black and transparencies instead for Australian model and actress Abbey Lee in Saint Laurent. Staying on the monochromatic side, there was Sara Sampaio in an orange creation by Zuhair Murad complemented by Pomellato jewelry.
The award for the most excessive outfit goes to Araya Hargate in a monumental Jean Paul Gaultier tulle gown.
