Leather & Luxury 30 - Tanneries / Chemicals / Technologies

193 FURNITURE The main difference between leather goods for accessories and footwear and those for furnishings concerns the size of the leather. Thanks to the processed raw material, which includes cuts of no less than 2.5 metres square, the Conceria Camaleonte company has also been producing calfskins in sizes suitable for the furnishing sector for years. As the hides used are subject to more wear and tear than a shoe or a bag, they receive special treatments to guarantee greater resistance. This mostly concerns seating, armchairs, chairs, and stools, where the need for supleness must be combined with not too three-dimensional effects in the case of embossing (usually crocodile or python). There is no limit to the variety of colours and finishes, ranging as far as laminated processing. The Ta.Go company, which sees its core business in the production and marketing of tanned leathers for leather goods and footwear, has for some time now also opened up to the world of upholstery. This has meant implementing appropriate testing in its production processes that differ from those used for leather goods and footwear, particularly those related to wear and tanning. Gradually, the company has specialised in the production of calfskin with a crocodile or python finish, intended for the manufacturing of sofas but especially armchairs, table legs, or entire tables. The nuances range from classic black and dark brown for the winter collection to pastel shades for the summer collection. Small armchairs, chairs, chaise longues, but also components, including drawer handles and desktops, to trays and coasters. There are many uses for the leathers in the furnishing sector from the Arkè tannery, which are especially in demand in Northern Europe. They are mainly vegetable tanned double rump hides: the type of tanning and the thickness of the hides make it possible to create seating without other supports or padding. This leather does not sag and is long-lasting; on the contrary, ageing contributes to a more pleasant appearance of the leather, which takes on ‘warmer’ tones. The colours are the classic ones: natural leather, black, and dark brown, although there is no lack of lively pastel shades. Dettagli di stile Minotti Poltrona Frau
