Legor celebrates 45 years of history through the development of new solutions and an innovative organisational vision

This year Legor celebrates its first 45 years of history, a precious milestone that highlights the company’s dedication and continuous evolution in meeting market needs. Throughout these 45 years, the word transformation has been at the forefront: not only metal transformation since 1979 - combining experience, technology and passion - but also a transformation of the company itself to embrace changes in the market and new opportunities, as well as the people who work there.

Three main points have been at the centre of this growth: tradition, innovation and sustainability. The company has always kept the roots of its artisanship alive, guaranteeing the excellence of its products, with innovation driving its work at the same time. As of this year, the Legor company is presenting an innovative organisational vision: it is no longer talking about alloys and galvanic solutions individually, but about products in accordance with its target markets, Jewellery and Fashion. This approach aims to offer targeted solutions in terms of both alloys and galvanic solutions, meeting the specific needs of each sector. The brand new legor.com website, which represents the conclusion of the rebranding journey undertaken between the end of 2022 and 2023, not only mirrors this new approach to product communication, but fully embodies the very essence of the Legor company’s transformation: it is an invitation to explore new frontiers, to go beyond the known, and embrace the potential of the exceptional, because in every particle lies the promise of an extraordinary future. Not least is the Legor company’s environmental responsibility, demonstrated through the integration of sustainable practices at every stage of the value chain, from sourcing of 100% recycled materials to manufacturing.

The company’s flagship is the Legor 3D Metal Hub, an innovative centre dedicated to the experimentation and production of jewellery and fashion accessories from precious and non-precious metal powders through the revolutionary new 3D Metal Jet Printing technology, an additive manufacturing process that uses a binder to join layers of metal powder - including steel, bronze and silver - to create complex three-dimensional metal objects. The Legor company’s R&D team is currently working on a project to also make object printing using platinum powder available to its clients.

Compared to current production methods, 3D Metal Jet Printing technology has several benefits: it does not require moulds and supports and allows for design modification, sampling is carried out in just two to three days, and it is possible to produce several pieces, even different ones, during the same cycle. It also makes it possible to create customised objects that can be overlaid during printing, or chained or hollowed without welding, with a density of 99.8% and zero waste, as the powder is 99% reused.
