You Won't Believe How This Balenciaga Bag Is Made

When Balenciaga presented its Haute Couture collection last week, many noticed a sparkling version of the house's iconic City bag. From afar, it looked like an extraordinary decorative piece, but photos shared by leather goods designer Minyoung Gil revealed something even more remarkable.

The bag's structure is entirely made of metal, while its body consists of a rose gold crystal mesh embellished with 40,000 Swarovski crystals.

The City was introduced in 2001 under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquière and has since become one of Balenciaga's most beloved accessories, reimagined in countless variations over the years. Pierpaolo Piccioli himself had already featured it on the runway in his ready-to-wear collections. This is, however, the first Couture version ever created—and it could only be extraordinary.
