What will become of Etro after Marco De Vincenzo’s departure from the brand? We will have a clearer picture in the coming months, but in the meantime the maison continues its journey, presenting collections that may not stand out for their innovation yet still manage to convey the brand’s heritage and, in some cases, pleasantly surprise. This is the case with the Resort 2027 bags, which set aside paisley to focus on cleaner yet equally intriguing craftsmanship, with raffia emerging as the material of choice.
Moving away from traditional weaving techniques, raffia is used more as a decorative element, with the thread creating embroidered patterns on leather and on the raffia itself. Colour plays a key role, adding depth to the natural material, enhanced by beads and leather finishes.

As seen in the Vela bag, a design by De Vincenzo, where colourful raffia creates a geometric floral pattern on smooth leather, bringing back to its essence the floral motif already explored in the brand’s spring bags.
