Alta Scuola di Pelletteria

Learning the tricks of the trade from master artisans

Baccani: «The future of the sector is built on high-level training»

In order to look to the future, the leather goods sector needs highly specialised personnel. And the answer comes from the Alta Scuola di Pelletteria Italiana. President Franco Baccani is convinced of this.

Why choose to enrol in a course at your school out of all those on the market?

«Choosing high-level training is fundamental to inherit the authentic artisan heritage of the Tuscan manufacturing district. Teachers with a wealth of experience behind them, gained in the field and in collaboration with major brands, work at the Alta Scuola di Pelletteria Italiana. This means having the opportunity to learn the tricks of the trade, manual dexterity, the optimisation of available resources, how the sector wants a product to be processed directly by those who know that market well. Our students have an extra ace in finding work in the leather goods sector later on».

What courses do you offer?

«The basic leather goods course, the specialisation courses which include both the prototyping course and the CAD operator course. We also offer two advanced courses: “From the model to the prototype” and “Business management technician”».

What is your goal?

«To transfer manual work to young people, using the new technologies available».

Do you have any new projects in the pipeline?

«Yes, one is being defined in these very weeks. For the moment we can only tell you that it represents a great achievement for our school».
