Gruppo Vecchia Toscana Spa

Via Sicilia 1
Fucecchio (FI)

Gruppo Vecchia Toscana SpA (GVT) is a tannery  located in Fucecchio and was founded in 1957 by  Mr. Guglielmo Testai. The company name comes
from a particular type of leather, an exclusive  GVT company product, which was very successful  between the 1960s and 1970s.

The evolution of Vecchia Toscana experienced  a milestone at the end of the 1970s, with the  inauguration of its new premises that are still  operational: more than 15,000 m² of covered area  that have allowed GVT to conceive and organize  the production process completely within the  company plants. A unique structure. Bringing the  entire production phase in-house means being    able to control and trace the entire transformation  process in detail, from the tanning of raw hides to  the fi nished product. The sublimation of ‘Made in  Italy’.

The natural continuation of the GVT tradition  has been taken over by Mr. Valerio Testai, the  founder’s son, who contributed decisively in giving
an international dimension to his tannery. To date,  the range of GVT articles include chrome and  vegetable tanned cowhides, calf and steer skins  solely purchased at European slaughterhouses. The  market of reference is the Luxury market, especially  in France, where export plays an important role in  the GVT turnover.

A fundamental part of the company’s activity is the  style and development offi ce where, each year, at  least 3% of its turnover is invested in new material  research. The company is also ISO 9001 certifi ed  and adopts the corporate social responsibility code  of conduct.
